Full service D2C pivot for juice and soft drink manufacturers

Frobishers is a national brand of soft drinks, best known for their fruit juice. Their core market is the pub and restaurant trade but when the pandemic hit and decimated this market, they needed to diversify and build on the Amazon sales that had been implemented at short notice. The Direct-to-Consumer experience was essential in order to have more control over packaging and brand experience, something that was not possible with their Amazon seller account that had specific requirements that didn’t align with their sustainability values. This was the first time the brand would be selling directly to consumers instead of through a distributor or wholesaler. The brief was to translate the branded bottles into a digital ecommerce experience with unique and complex build-a-box feature asap to react to the third UK lockdown.

Having historically been a B2B business supplying the hospitality industry and experienced a seismic reduction in sales due to the restrictions associated with COVID, we recognised we needed an online platform to start rebalancing our customer base. To make shipping viable, minimum order quantities of 12 or 24 bottles needed to be implemented. However, rather than limit the orders to a single flavour or product variant we created a bespoke experience to create an unlimited level of configurability. This is conducted at SKU level. To make this build even more complicated, we also created pre-configured bundles (e.g. Cocktail Box or Breakfast Box) and users can add multiple boxes to their basket, with each combination programmatically stored to allow multiple custom boxes. This is about as complicated and technically challenging as it can get with a build-a-box feature and pushes the Shopify platform to the limit.

Tribe Digital has been running a variety of performance media for Frobishers, with channels including Facebook, Instagram, Google Shopping and PPC.

Content creation

Creation of images, assets and motion graphics for use in advertising and on organic social channels.

Facebook Advertising

Customers who visit the Frobishers website, view products / add to cart but do not purchase are retargeted with adverts prompting them to complete their order.

Search marketing

Using a combination Google Shopping, PPC and organic visibility, Frobisher's are able to compete against Amazon and other D2C drinks brands.
